KONY 2012

I know this is way off from other posts but let's call this an opinion post.
I am starting to question the authenticity of KONY 2012. For those of you that don't know, 3 filmmakers visited Uganda in spring of 2003 "in search of a story" and they found out that there was a man named Joseph Kony who abducted children at the time and used the girls as sex slaves and the guys as soliders. They created a non profit organization called "Invinsible Children" and took it upon themselves to start a movement where they would make Kony so famous that the America government will send troops to Uganda to help caputure Joseph Kony. This is how it was said on their website; "We believe that by uniting our voices we can use the systems, influence, and resources of the United States to expedite an end to the conflict".
I don't believe Kony's story is as serious as what they make it seem because if Kony was really a problem in Uganda from 2003 when the film makers found out about it till date, Ugandan government would have done something about him. Apparently Kony is not in Uganda, he is hiding in neigbhouring countries so what is the point of creating a cause to get the attention of American government and send them to Uganda to help if Kony isn't even there. They contributed to rehabilitating the people Kony captured in the past which is great but there are also other life and death causes in Africa that I'm sure the revenue the Invisible Children gets can help with. This is just my opinion though!!
